The closest CraftMyPDF alternatives at a glance
The best CraftMyPDF alternative depends on how you build templates: APITemplate.io if you want HTML templates at a lower entry price, DocRaptor if you need print-grade HTML to PDF, DocuGenerate if your templates are Word files, and DocSpring if you fill existing PDF forms. Each figure below was read on that vendor's own pricing page on 3 October 2026 and can change.
| Product | Entry paid plan | Included volume | Free option |
|---|---|---|---|
| CraftMyPDF | Lite, $29 per month | 1,200 PDFs per month, 6 templates | 50 PDFs per month, 3 templates |
| APITemplate.io | PDF Basic, $24 per month on monthly billing | 3,000 PDFs per month, 20 templates | 50 PDFs or images per month, 3 templates |
| DocRaptor | Basic, $15 per month | 125 documents per month | 5 documents per month plus unlimited watermarked tests |
| DocuGenerate | Plus, $19 per month | 500 documents per month, 5 templates | 20 documents per month, 2 templates |
| DocSpring | Starter, $49 per month | 50 PDFs per month, unlimited templates | 14-day trial |
| Docupilot | Starter, $29 per month | 100 documents per month, 1 user seat | 14-day trial |
| Documint | Silver, $39 per month billed annually | 2,400 documents per year | 14-day trial |
| PDFMonkey | Starter, priced in euros | 300 documents per month, unlimited templates | 20 documents per month |
PDFMonkey publishes its prices in euros only, so no dollar figure is quoted here. PDF Generator API is covered separately in our CraftMyPDF vs PDF Generator API comparison for the same reason: its pricing page showed euros when we read it.
What each alternative is best at, and one limit
- APITemplate.io: best for teams that want both a visual editor and an HTML editor, plus HTML to PDF. Limit: its largest published PDF plan stops at 25,000 PDFs a month, against 150,000 on CraftMyPDF Business.
- DocRaptor: best for complex, print-style documents, because it converts HTML with the Prince engine and offers a 99.99% uptime guarantee. Limit: you write the HTML and CSS yourself, and volume is small for the price, at 125 documents for $15.
- DocuGenerate: best when staff already maintain documents in Word, since templates are Word files merged with JSON data. Extra documents on Plus cost $0.04 each. Limit: the Plus plan holds only 5 templates.
- DocSpring: best for filling existing PDF forms, with unlimited templates and users on every plan. Limit: Starter includes just 50 PDFs, and extras cost 25 cents each.
- Docupilot: best for office teams that want document delivery and an e-signature add-on in one tool. Limit: 100 documents a month on the $29 plan.
- Documint: best for Airtable users, with Airtable, Zapier, Make and Coda integrations listed on every plan. Limit: only the annual-billing price was readable on its pricing page, and the Silver allowance averages 200 documents a month.
- PDFMonkey: best for developers who want HTML, CSS and Liquid templates with pay-as-you-go extras. Limit: its own FAQ says it holds no compliance certification.
Where CraftMyPDF still fits best
CraftMyPDF is the stronger choice when the people building templates do not write HTML. Its editor is drag and drop, and one PDF costs one credit regardless of page count, which favors long reports. The free plan is ongoing rather than a timed trial, and regional API endpoints cover the US, Europe, Singapore and Australia. The vendor also states that it has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit.
Full plan details are in our CraftMyPDF pricing breakdown.
Where CraftMyPDF does not fit
- Spiky volume. There is no per-document overage. When credits run out you must upgrade a whole tier by hand. DocuGenerate, DocRaptor and DocSpring all bill extra documents individually.
- Many templates on a small budget. Lite allows 6 templates and Plus allows 15. DocSpring and Documint list unlimited templates on every plan.
- Existing HTML documents. If the layout already exists as HTML and CSS, an HTML to PDF API avoids rebuilding it in a visual editor.
- Team access under $99. Teams start on the Professional plan.
Which alternative to pick by buyer type
| If you are | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A developer with HTML templates and a tight budget | APITemplate.io | 3,000 PDFs for $24 a month on monthly billing, with an HTML editor |
| Publishing long, paginated or accessible documents | DocRaptor | Prince-based rendering and tagged, accessible PDFs |
| An operations team that lives in Word | DocuGenerate | Word templates, per-document overage |
| Filling government or insurance PDF forms | DocSpring | Built around PDF form filling |
| A non-developer designing reports visually | CraftMyPDF | Drag-and-drop editor and a standing free plan |
