Define the handoff, not just the connector
A no-code connection still needs a clear input, output and owner. Record where the approved report data comes from, which template version is called and where the generated file will wait for review. A connector name does not prove support for your field types, table structure, file size or exact delivery destination. Check the current route against those requirements.
Use a small interface contract
For a fictional service update, pass report_id, period_label, approved_note and items. Do not give the generator an entire customer database because four fields are convenient to extract later. Document which operation creates the file and what response identifies it. Keep credentials in an authorized secure mechanism; never place keys inside a public page or sample JSON.
A timeout needs investigation
A request may finish at the provider even if the connecting step times out. Before trying again, inspect available request identifiers and provider records. If the service documents idempotency or a status lookup, evaluate that behavior; do not assume it exists. For an unresolved result, hold the report and let its owner reconcile it rather than sending duplicate files to a client.
Choose on maintainability
Prefer a route the team can operate under its real access permissions. Record the cost of connector operations, development, monitoring and manual exceptions separately. A coded integration is not automatically more robust, and a visual workflow is not automatically maintenance-free. Test a rejected input and an interrupted response before evaluating unattended release.
Worked handoff: identify the uncertainty
Your fictional workflow submits R-004 and times out before receiving a file reference. Mark submitted, result unknown; do not mark failed and automatically loop. A separate R-005 that has not been submitted may still proceed under its own checks. The owner should use whatever documented history facilities actually exist to reconcile R-004. If no facility exists, that limitation belongs in the method-selection decision.
